Inside the books are very good. Still nice work on history and how to studdy it. Very good illustrated with 23 folding maps, depicting all places of interest: Greece, Holy Land, Persia, Italy, Europe, Africa, Asia, America . Very interesting for his catalogue of principal historians and their works. (vols 3 and 4 have an extensive index of books for example : the history of Japan and then a list of all books related to Japan).
