The minor defects do not detract at all from this delightful book. ; 4to; 10 pages; A wonderful version of this Academy Award Winning (Best Cartoon) Disney animated short film. The film was released on November 25, 1938, and was based on the classic story by Munro Leaf, originally illustrated by Robert Lawson. This book was published contemporaneously with the film release. According to Dave Smith's Disney A to Z, many of the animated characters were based on Disney employees: the matador was a characterization of Walt himself, who even provided the voice of Ferdinand, and Milt Kahl, one of the Nine Old Men, was the voice of Ferdinand's mother..
