A fine copy in contemporary leather binding by Whitman Bennett of New York. Half deep red morocco, spine with raised bands, each with gilt piping. Compartments double ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Red cloth on boards. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Marbled endpapers. A fine copy in a fine early binding. Originally published (appended by James Edward Austen-Leigh) in 1871, this edition is faithful to the original manuscript and at the end of the text lists the many variations in that earlier published edition.
