Title: WAR SPEECHES. Into Battle - The Unrelenting struggle - The End of the beginning - Onwards to victory - The Dawn of liberation - Victory - Secret session speeches.
Description: Cassell and Company. London. 1942-46. FIRST EDITIONS of volumes two through to seven. First volume is the tenth edition, published 1943. 7 VOLUMES. Complete set of the war speeches. SIGNED AND INSCRIBED BY CHURCHILL IN VOLUME ONE (Into Battle), with a V for Victory. ----?Inscribed by Winston S. Churchill. June 15. 1944. V .? ---- Very good set in the original publishers different coloured dustwrappers. The first and fifth volumes have some minor foxing to the first few pages and there is some light spotting to the fore edges of three volumes but otherwise all the volumes are clean and bright throughout. The wrappers have some creasing and chipping to the edges but are on the whole in very good condition. A very good complete set of Churchill's War Speeches with the bonus of being signed in volume one. Any copies of Into Battle signed by Churchill are surprisingly difficult to find, with first edition copies being rarest of all. --- Very likely inscribed by Churchill at a luncheon given in his honour by the Mexican Ambassador on this date and a nice touch to have the large V, for victory, added after the inscription.
