Paper split to upper hinge after pp.xii, gilt lettered black embossed blue cloth, corners sl. frayed, some marking to lower board, dulled spine chipped with loss. ¶ John Whetham Boddam-Whetham (1843–1918) English naturalist, traveler and first-class cricketer. During the 1870s he became a well known naturalist and traveller. He toured the western United States in the early 1870s, which included an ascent of Mount Shasta.
