Hardback , no dustjacket. ¶ An account of the fighting in the Italian Alps north of Vicenza. Martin Hardie [ 1875 - 1952 ] war artist & curator at the V&A. He served as an officer in the army during WWI reaching the rank of captain. His first exhibition was in 1908 at the Royal Academy. Herbert Warner Allen, [ 1881 - 1968 ] journalist and writer who shortly after the outbreak of the First World War in 1914 as made an official representative of the British press at the French front. In 1917 he accompanied the British divisions diverted to support the Italians, and remained in Italy until the following year.
