Description: for J Pridden, 1763, 1st edition. Disbound 8vo. G. 116pp, spotted, rust hole on 2pp affecting a couple of words - but legible, a fair copy. Disbound , no dustjacket. ¶ John Almon, [ 1737 - 1805 ] bookseller and journalist who found lasting support when in 1762 he wrote 'A Review of Mr. Pitt's Administration', in which he openly wrote of his almost fanatical distrust of Bute. The pamphlet saw Almon receive unlimited support from Earl Temple - so much so that 'in 1763, with Temple's assurance of support, Almon set up shop at 178 Piccadilly, opposite Burlington House. Temple not only switched his own business to Almon, but persuaded many friends to do the same; as a result Almon's shop became a centre of information and activity for the opposition for twenty years' [OBND]. This somewhat uncommon pamphlet the product of the early part of those years.
