Hardback , no dustjacket. ¶ A collection of humorous short stories, some with a nautical aspect. Alfred Walter Barrett [ 1869 - c1933 ] journalist & author who published many books using the pseudonym R Andom. He was taken to court in June 1921 and found guilty of conspiring to corrupt public morals - he had published a lonely hearts magazine intended to allow lonely peiple find friendship. Some found more than that, the judge, in sentencing Barrett said - 'There can be no graver attack on the morals of this country than to establish a paper as you did for the purpose of allowing men and women to commit immorality.' This was Barrett's last published work - the hard labour to which he was sentenced perhaps sealing his fate.
