[xxiv]+367+[i]pp, 4to, nice wide margined copy, leather rubbed & worn along the edges with a split at the top of the spine to the rear hinge, bottom R corner of the upper board worn through, old paper spine label illegible, both pastedowns long since detached from the boards ( ownership signature of John Grant dated 1755 to the verso of the rear pastedown ), old latin inscription on the first blank, two old ownership inscriptions on the title, one partly crossed out ( dated 1764 ), paper a little yellowed to the edges, an attractive, un-restored copy. Hardback , no dustjacket. ¶ A collection of tracts by the French Huguenot minister Jean Daillé [ 1594 - 1670 ] including the 1632 'Traicte De L'Employ Des Saincts Peres' in which he called into question the authority of the early Church fathers and the importance given to their teachings by the 'Theologia Fundamentalis' of the contemporary Catholic Church. Daille was the private chaplain to the 'Hugueno Pope' Du-Plessis-Mornay. Here the treatise are translated into Latin by Jean Metayer.
