Full contemporary calf, G+. xxxii+463+[i]pp, single folding chart, leather rubbed & worn with several small nicks & chips, corners rubbed & bumped, the upper hinge begining to crack but holding well, the binder has trimmed the top edge close occasionally shaving part of the running title, pages grubby through use & yellowed, the folding chart ( of verb conjugation ) has been miss-folded but is free from tears, overall a well used but complete & solid copy. Hardback , no dustjacket. ¶ A much reprinted & comprehensive guide to speaking French the correct way, with much given over to pronunciation & the French idiom. The first edition appearing in 1750. The author, a prolific writer of books on learning French & French pronunciation died in 1776.
