Description: Edinburgh, Printed by John Taylor.. and printed for the author, and sold at his house, Millar's Land, Crosscauseway;, 1802, 1795. 8vo. later C19th half-calf, marbled boards, spine ruled and decorated in compartments. Engraved frontis. [iv]+78+38+4pp. Leather a little scuffed at edges, and at spine, early juvenilia to frontis. verso, otherwise tight and clean. No loss. Two plays bound together with additional poems. The first play honours James Crichton the Scottish 16th C. polymath, while the second play relates to the Second Partition of Poland (1793). Ex libris bookplate (Fortis in Arduis) of James Wyllie Guild (1826-1894), Scottish public accountant and antiquarian. Over 3000 items from his library and antiquarian collections were sold at auction in April 1888.
