Used; Good The Ruhleben internment camp (near Berlin) was a civilian detention camp in Germany during World War I containing some 4,000 British civilian men and boys caught in enemy territory at the outbreak of war. The German authorities adhered to the Geneva Convention and allowed camp detainees to administer their own internal affairs. Gradually, a mini-society evolved in the camp. They had their own postal service and printing press, issuing 'In Ruhleben', 'The Ruhleben Camp Magazine' and 'La vie française de Ruhleben' . Hardback.
