Presentation ex-libris "from the library of T J Ring" and with his label neatly to imprint on title-page. Used; Good John Campbell Coloquhoun (1785–1854) was born in Edinburgh. Having studied law and philosophy at Göttingen, where he made the acquaintance of Ludwig, crown prince of Bavaria, he returned to Scotland in 1806. While in Germany he had acquired a taste for the investigation of the phenomena then grouped under the category of 'animal magnetism,' which were just beginning to attract the attention of scientific men. In 1831, a report on this subject was pronounced worthy of systematic investigation and was translated and published by Coloquhoun in 1833. He included an historical introduction and an appendix embodying the results of his own research. This became the basis of this present work 'Isis Revelata', a much expanded version of his earlier paper. Hardback.
