Owner name to f.e.p. Used; Very Good An early title from this short series published by the Phonetics Department at UCL under the direction of the celebrated phonetician and linguist Daniel Jones. The series provided useful publicity for the descriptive phonetic research at the department. Both common and less well-charted languages were chosen for a balanced list. (See Collins & Mees 'The Real Inspector Higgins: The Life and Career of Daniel Jones', 1999). Jones' work with Camilli and others provided the model for the updated IPA Principles published in 1949.
