Contemporary full calf, spine with five raised bands and title label, marbled edges, worn and hinges starting to split. Internally clean and crisp. Copy of Signet Library, with gilt crest on covers. First edition. A narrative about the Nilgiri Mountains (or Blue Mountains), bordering the Karnataka Plateau and Kerala states in southern India. It's a mountainous region which was unknown to the British until 1818 but later became their favourite summer and weekend getaway.
