Some staining. Last leaf with marginal paperflaw without any loss of text. Old signature on title. 19th century half vellum. First illustrated edition of an early work on stenography, mainly devoted to the Spanish phonetics. The author, a member of the Economical Society of Madrid and of the Academy of San Fernando, here recommends a syllabic system of transcription, wheras the systems previously elaborated were literal. In the introduction he discusses in detail the stenographic methods elaborated in England and France and their drawbacks concerning the application to the Spanish language.
