Another copy with the same collation, including a later printed quiz Z, is listed by Smitskamp in their catalogue 614 (1997).The author, known by several names, was an Austrian Carmelite missionary and Orientalist who in 1774 came to Malabar in India as a missionary. He returned to Rome in 1789 and became private secretary to Cardinal Stefano Borgia, Secretary to the Propaganda Fide. He is known for being one of the first scholars to remark on the relationship between Indian and European languages.
