Marbled paper covered boards with matching end papers and edges. St.o.t. An abridged French edition. The translation contains the independant account of Bergmann's stay with the nomad people in the Russian province of Astrakhan. Includes also "Essai sur la suite des Kalmucs des bord du Volga", mostly based on the narrative of de Weseloff, a former prisoner of the Kalmucks, but also based on works by Pallas and Rytschkov.
