Diane Bournazel (born 1956) is a French painter, printmaker and book illustrator represented in both private and public collections in France and elsewhere. Her books contain mysterious narratives or poetry without words which illustrate life, death and love in a puzzling way. Her detailed illustrations are filled with people, animals and other beings hovering in enigmatic environments. The stories are not straightforward and are always open to an interpretation and reinterpretation which may vary from time to time. The centre of the book has window cut-outs which make it possible to look both forward and backward. This together with small pieces of collage and striking decorated zigzag edges invites us to read the book in so many different ways.
