Description: . Lithographed board game (48 x 48 cm). Hand-coloured and printed in green and black on four cardboard panels pasted on green cloth, with Bordeaux red mauve patterned paper on reverse, slightly rubbed. Housed in the original mauve patterned paper covered box (small loss of label). Printed rules inside the lid. Some staining to front cover and the lower cover has been nicely restored. The game offers various routes via balloon, railway, overland or sea voyage, along a grid to the exotic and mysterious city of Peking in the centre. The design of the grid strikingly resembles Chinese city maps of the period. Ornamented with beautiful hand-coloured vignettes in the corners. A well-preserved game published just after the Second Opium War.
