Contemporary half calf on marbled boards, flat spines ruled and lettered in gilt, lightly rubbed. Codex Nasaraeus, also called Ginza Rba and sometimes The Book of Adam, is the canonical prayer book of the Mandaeans. It is a compilation of various oral teachings and written texts and includes literature on a wide variety of topics: liturgy and hymns, theological texts, as well as both religious and secular poetry. It was originally written in Mandaic script which is a local variant of the Aramaic language. Norberg published the Codex in Syriac characters together with a Latin translation.
