Description: . Original photograph of Chang, the Giant. Size: 6,4 x 10,8 cm. He is dressed in a Chinese traditional costume, most likely his performace outfit. Chang Woo Gow was born in Fuzhou (Canton) in the 1840's. He was well educated and travelled around the world performing as "Chang the Chinese Giant". His height was claimed to be over 2,4 meter!. In 1878 he retired from stage and settled in Bournemouth, where he operated a Chinese teahouse and a curio store.
