Late 18th-/early 19th-cent. manuscript consisting of 158 vellum leaves measuring apprx. 140 x 105 mm (written area 100 x 80 mm). Open-back, chain-stitched binding in contemp. wooden boards wrapped in orig. girdle cloth, and housed in the orig. two-part leather sliding case (inner part somewhat worn at base) with attached strap. Sewn in 16 numbered quires of 4 to 10 leaves, 20 lines per page (1r-4v 157r-158v are blank). Text in black and red ink, in a small, irregular hand, with letters slightly inclined to the right. Some ink scribbles to the first four (blank) pages, a few small holes at some 10 leaves, else a lovely, well preserved copy with intact two-part case. ¶ Psalter in Ge'ez, followed by a typical collection of songs. The text contains the following sections: leaves 5r-120r the 150 Psalms, 120r-140r the Cantica of the Old and New Testament and 140r-156v the Weddase Maryam (in two columns).
