Sm. 4to, 227, (1), 16 (ads)pp., illus. throughout (nearly all full-page plates) Publ. pebbled forest green cloth, beveled edges, elaborate gilt title amid floral vignette, borders in gilt and black with corner fleurons, gilt spine, rear cover stamped in blind. Light wear at extremities, a very good copy with fresh text and fine illustrations. ¶ First Edition, sometimes found with the general title Freaks of Fashion. Lord, a veterinary surgeon who served in the Crimea, wrote on a broad range of subjects, including markerel fishing, silkworms, bamboo and palms, flying fish, and the backroads of London. this was his most popular book.
