Circa 1960s. The house type specimen book consisting of foolscap specimen leaves mounted on a 30 x 13 inch masonite board with 3 large hoops to bind the sheets. ¶ Typographic Service was one of the leading advertising compositors in Los Angeles. In the early 1970s they sold their metal type and went photo. This was their house specimen book; it consists of several hundred sheets divided into Handset, Linotype, Monotype, Ludlow, Fotosetter and Miscellaneous. Each section has its own index, and there is a master index as well.
