Dampstain and old lib. stamp at title leaf, minute marginal wormholes, largely confined to title, text toned, a good copy. ¶ First Edition, one of the earlier alphabets of the Propaganda Press, which was established in 1626. These types first appeared a year earlier in the Press' 1630 edition of Marianus Victorius' Ethiopic grammar (1552). In his preface to this work, Achilles Venerius relates how the types were cut after designs received from Jesuit missionaries in Ethiopia. Smitskamp PO 195; cf. 213 (ed.1789) and 218 (1630 ed.
