Small tear to bottom LH of sheet. Small tear to bottom of spine. Souter was a general practitioner from the mallee country in South Australia & was an established writer of fiction & verse. MacCarthy was an Irish doctor who emigrated to Sydney in 1884 & established an extensive practice in Elizabeth Street. His music to this song was later published in a revised version as a march for piano solo [DUE, Stephen: Chief Librarian, The Geelong Hospital].
