Description: , 1940. . An amusing work by the Chinese artist T'sien Shun-chu. The original work was painted in the Sung Dynasty and this woodblock print was produced in Japan in about 1940. The original work is kept in a temple in Kyoto.37.5cm by 27.5cm. This is an example of an reprint set published by the Nippon Gasui-sha in the early 20th century. This was a subscription set, three new woodblock prints were released every month. The subjects in this series range from designs by Hiroshige and Utamaro, masters of Ukiyo-e, to Mitsuoki Tosa and painters from the Kano school.
