Title: American Fly Fishing. A History. {Deluxe Binding By Gray Parrott}.
Description: New York. Nick Lyons Books and The American Museum of Fly Fishing. 1987. Deluxe Edition Binding. Quarto (11 x 9). 278 pp. including notes, bibliography, index. Historical black and white photos. Text illustrations. By far the most comprehensive history written on American fly fishing. Mr. Schullery is an excellent writer with the background, knowledge and skill to bring together the disparate fields of the sport and synthesize them in this splendid work. The book is divided into four parts: Pilgrims, Pioneers, and a Man Named Porter - The Victorian Fly Fisher - The Geography of the Fly - The Modern Angler. The book was bound by Gray Parrot, Incorporated, of Easthampton, Massachusetts in quarter-bound dark green Niger goatskin with Italian sides and leather corners. Raised bands on the spine with gilt rules (precisely the same as the limited edition and this book was likely used by the Museum or author for presentation). A beautiful book. Fine.
