Inscribed and signed by Eric Morse to the American Ambassador to Canada, Mr. and Mrs. Wigglesworth on the title page. Black and white photos taken by Eric Morse. Text map showing the route of the Voyageurs. The day-by-day diary account describes a 225 mile canoe trip, over ten days, beginning on August 6 and concluding on August 16, which originated at Ile a La Crosse, Saskatchewan on the Churchill River River, then up and through Peter Pond Lake to the tail of Methye River, and then up to the Clearwater River, and concluding at Waterways in Alberta. There were four men on the trip : The author, Eric W. Morse, National Director of Canadian Clubs; Major-General N. E. Rodger, former Vice-Chief of the General Staff; Major-General J. M. Rockingham, G.O.C. Quebec Command; Arthur Maybee, Vice-President and General Manager Brakeley & Company, Toronto. The Voyageurs retraced the route of Alexander Mackenzie in 1787. There was some fishing and the catching of mostly pike. The diary records some difficult portages, and sometimes difficult paddling in strong winds and swift currents. The book was reprinted by courtesy of the Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited. This is a rare book. No examples are found at Worldcat. The book is bound in cream colored wrappers with black titles on the front cover. There is the remains of paperclip rust on the front cover. Otherwise very good. Laid-in is the unpublished diary manuscript titled "SUB-ARCTIC CANOE TRIP / VOYAGEURS 1959 / SARAH LAKE - GREAT BEAR - MACKENZIE RIVER" / By Eric W. Morse. Nine pages of typescript. In Eric Morse’s hand, the participants for the journey are listed, and Mr. Morse also drew a map showing the route. The ms. is in fine condition.
