Title: Salmo Salar. {This was A. H. E. Wood’s Book with his Bookplate and its Inscribed and Signed by Frank Gray Griswold to Mr. Wood. Also there are Marginal Notes by William Menzies.
Description: Norwood, Massachusetts. The Plimpton Press. 1929. Octavo (7 1/2 x 5). [4], 3-28 pp. First Edition. Privately published by the author. Inscribed and signed by Frank Gray Griswold "To my friend / A. H. E. Wood / from / F. Gray Griswold," Mr. Wood was the first angler to describe greased line fly fishing for salmon and his methods were published in England under the pen-name "Jock Scott" in 1935. There are numerous marginal notes within the text by angling author William Menzies, author of "Salmon Fishing," and other titles. Mr. Griswold describes Atlantic salmon fishing in Eastern Canada in the 1920s, based on his own experiences and also taken from Club records of the Grand Cascapedia and Restigouche camps. The book is bound in its original red flexible morocco with gilt titles and a decoration on the front cover. Top edge gilt. With the armorial bookplate of A. H. E. Wood on the front paste-down. Also with a sporting bookplate on the fly leaf. There’s just a bit of light rubbing to the spine ends. A nice book. About fine.
