Description: New York. E. P. Dutton. 1980. First Edition. Octavo (7 ˝ x 5). 287 pp. plus acknowledgment. Inscribed and signed by Ernest Schwiebert on the front fly leaf to a former owner of an Orvis fly shop. Illustrated by the author. Fasten your seat belt, as Ernest Schwiebert takes you around the planet fly fishing exotic locations populated with interesting characters and enormous fish, mostly salmon, steelhead, and trout. The chapter, "The Platforms of Despair", is not to be missed - fly fishing for huge Atlantic salmon with the mysterious and wealthy Nicholas Denissoff on the Aroy River in Norway; Denissoff was a Russian émigré after the 1917 revolution, and leased the beat on the Aroy when Mr. Schwiebert fished it in the early 1960s. There was intrigue and mystique surrounding Denissoff and it lends itself to the thrill of the fishing. The book is bound in gray cloth with silver titles. Pictorial dust jacket. A nice book. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket with light edge wear. Signed by Author.
