Title: Fly Patterns and Their Origins. {Inscribed & Signed by Harold Smedley to Former Seattle Times Outdoor Editor, Book Author, and Well-Known Northwest Fly Fisherman, Enos Bradner}.
Description: Muskegon, Michigan. Westshore Publications. 1946. Third Printing. Octavo (8 x 5). 133 pp. Inscribed and signed by Harold Smedley to Enos Bradner, the late book author and Outdoor Editor of the Seattle Times. The book was presented to Mr. Bradner by Harold Smedley at an Outdoor Writers gathering in July, 1947, held in Alaska. Enos Bradner is famous for his steelhead fly creation, "Brad’s Brat." When the fourth printing of Smedley’s "Fly Patterns and Their Origins" appeared in 1950, Brad’s Brat was included in the updated edition - a combination of good fortune and the new friendship established between the two men. Color plate showing six nineteenth century fly patterns. Color plus black and plates. Harold Smedley wrote with great care and careful research about famous fly patterns and how they came to be known to fly fishermen. A key book for anyone interested in the history of fly patterns. A nice book. The book is bound in brown cloth with black titles. Pictorial dust jacket. With Enos Bradner’s bookplate on the front paste down. A nice book. Fine in a very good dust jacket with a touch of edge ware.
