Title: Trout Flies: Proven Patterns. {Limited Edition}.
Description: Helena, Montana. Greycliff Publishing Company. 1993. Quarto (11 x 9). 260 pp. including index. Limited Edition. Book number 77 of 250 copies published. Signed by Gary LaFontaine on the limitation page. Color plates showing dozens of Mr. LaFontaine's fly patterns. Black and white photos. Step-by-step instructional drawings. The late Gary LaFontaine was probably the best trout fly pattern innovator in the last 35 years, primarily because he conducted first-hand field research, testing and experimenting with fly patterns until he succeeded in convincing trout that his fly was something worth eating. The book is bound in half burgundy goat skin and burgundy moire silk over boards with gilt titles on the spine. Marbled end papers. Silk ribbon marker. The two-part slip case is made with matching burgundy moire silk. The book is enclosed on one side of the slip case and the other side shows three flies in a sunken mount: Two flies dressed by Gary LaFontaine and one by his daughter, Heather LaFontaine. The fly display was designed by Don Leyden. A magnificent book. Fine in a fine slip case.
