Title: Salmon and Sea Trout Fishing in Norway.
Description: London. Published by the Norway Travel Association. First Edition. 1953. Octavo (8 x 5 1/2). 71 pp. Black and white photos showing many of the rivers and streams described. Photos of anglers and a good number of large salmon caught. Includes a brief history of salmon fishing in Norway, lists of salmon rivers, notable Norway salmon (by weight), statistics on the annual output of salmon and sea trout listed for each river, rod fishing statistics, detailed descriptions highlighting a large number of Norwegian salmon rivers, and an index of rivers. And to think, all of this information and description written by Peter Prag, a man who never fished for salmon in his life. He was, nevertheless, a keen observer and recorder of Norwegian salmon and salmon fishermen with an ear for precise detail. It’s also odd how sometimes books boomerang back to us. I sold this same book fifteen years ago at the San Francisco ABAA show along with my late friend and colleague, Don Conner. It’s quite a scarce book. At the time I originally sold it, no copy had appeared at auction in 30 years. The book is bound in the original gray pictorial wrappers depicting a young lad standing in a river holding an immense salmon. Very good with light edge wear.
