"Conan Doyle's Juvenalia gives an account of the author's literary apprenticeship, though fails to mention his first published book. It so impressed Robert Louis Stevenson, when he read it in the Idler (January 1893), that he submitted an article of his own on Treasure Island." (Green and Gibson, pp. 347-348).
