Illustrated with 114 illustrations in photogravure, fourteen facsimiles of documents (some folding), and 196 maps and plans (some folding, some with color). One of a few sets bound identically to the signed limited edition of 155 copies in publisher’s full orange morocco by Leighton-Straker (stamp-signed in gilt on the rear turn-in) for Sotheran (stamp-signed on the verso of the front free endpaper). Front cover stamped in gilt with the arms of Marlborough, spines lettered in gilt with five raised bands, top edge gilt. Spines slightly faded. An excellent set. Woods A40(a).
