Description: 1920. Japanese Village - Bradley's Straight Line Picture Cut-outs [Unmade paper model]. Milton Bradley Company. Springfield, MA. 1920. Unmade paper model in sheets is enclosed in a green and white envelope depicting a Japanese village with people, trees, a bridge and buildings. The cut-out pieces are in black and white on 8 numbered sheets of cardstock 11" x 14". A sheet of thin paper approx. the same size provides "Directions for Making Models" of "Bradley's Straight-Line Picture Cut-Outs." Another sheet has color illustrations of the cut-out pieces placed in the configuration of a village. One of a series of themed paper cut-outs from the Springfield, MA company, which was established in 1860 and went on to become a pioneer of the American board game industry. Illustrator Lulu Maud Chance designed this, as well as other villages in the series. Wear to and torn corner of the instruction sheet and tears to edges of the envelope with spots of toning/staining on both. Held in the The Robert Freidus Paper Model Collection (part of the Museum of Childhood, Bethnal Green) at the Victoria and Albert museum. .
