Wood-engraved frontispiece of Copp's Hill and 14 small wood-engravings throughout the text. xxiv,252,[4] pp. + a "List of Patrons of 'Boston Epitaphs'," 15 pp. 12mo. publisher's brown cloth with a gilt-stamped vignette of the Mariner's Tomb on upper and lower boards, and gilt-stamped title and decoration to spine, brown coated endpapers, a.e.g. Contemporary binder's ticket (B. Bradley & Co. Boston) on rear pastedown. Binding shows wear at corners and slight loss at heel and crown, with a bit of spotting and discoloration in places to cloth; but it is sound overall and internally clean. It is a very good copy of an uncommon book. (Sabin 7839). Founded in 1659, Copp's Hill Burying Ground is Boston's second oldest burying ground. It is the final resting place of the Mather family of ministers and other notable early residents of Boston, as well as artisans, tradespeople, merchants, and African-Americans. Although the latter, who were buried in unmarked graves, are not included in this history. .
