Description: 1935. [POSTCARD ALBUM]. 134 POSTCARDS, MOSTLY VIEWS OF MASSACHUSETTS AND NEW HAMPSHIRE, CIRCA 1935-1938. Mostly photographic postcards of New England, with a few being actual photographs, and mostly in color. Sprinkled throughout the album are cards from other locations across the U.S. and even a few exotic locations, such as Hawaii, Bermuda, and Auckland, New Zealand. There are also a handful of cards that reproduce paintings or are imprinted with holiday messages. Many of the postcards have been used and have messages written on the back and, in a few instances, on the front. Dates range from 1935-1938 when given, with one notable exception: an Easter greeting from 1900. Their overall condition is very good. They are housed in a lovely arts-and-crafts style album: flexible blue leather with a green and red floral design onlay on the front. 9 by 6 3/4 in. It is a thick album, whose leaves have pre-cut slots for inserting the postcards and display two to a page, and is presently about three-quarters full. It shows some edgewear but is sound and attractive. A list of some of the identified place names includes 44 cards from Massachusetts locations: Amesbury, Boston, Cape Cod, Chatham, Concord, Greenfield, Hull, Lake Boon, Lowell, Magnolia, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Marlboro, Nantucket, Pemberton. 38 cards from New Hampshire locations: Alton, Concord, Contoocook, Franconia Notch, Franklin, Hampton Beach, Hanover, Henniker, Keene, Laconia, Manchester, North Epping, Portsmouth, Salisbury, Warner. 6 cards from Maine locations : Monhegan, Moosehead Lake, Ogunquit, Wells Beach, York. There are a few cards from Vermont (Chelsea, Middlebury, Newport) and one each from Connecticut (Simsbury) and Rhode island (Providence). Other postcards are from national parks (Rainier, Yellowstone, & Glacier), major cities (New York City: George Washington Bridge & the Chrysler Building, Washington D.C. & Los Angeles), as well as Colorado (Trinidad & Rocky Ford), Florida (Lake Wales, St. Petersburg, St. Cloud, & Tampa), and Texas (Galveston). .
