An examination of Raphael Sanzio's cartoons for tapestries which were to be hung in the Sistine Chapel. Illustrated with eight engraved plates, including a frontispiece after a self-portrait by Raphael, engraved by J. Mollison, and seven other plates showing the cartoons, engraved by A. W. Warren. 185 pp. 8vo. brown half calf, black label with gilt letters to spine, brown cloth sides, all edges marbled. Armorial bookplate. The plates are foxed in the margins and, with the exception of the frontispiece, do not touch the images; the text leaves are clean. The leather is rubbed at crown, joints, and corner, and has darkened unevenly in places; the cloth is lightly spotted and sunned at edges. Nonetheless, this is a solid copy in very good condition. .
