The reason for the book is the approaching centenary of the Diocese of Bombay (now Mumbai). The first Bishop, Dr Thomas Carr, who had been one of the Company's Chaplains and also Archdeacon of Bombay, was consecrated on Sunday, November 19, 1837, in Lambeth Palace Chapel. ISBN: 002695
