From the title page (paraphrased): Written and compiled from my original war diary with assistance from many others who served in Papua New Guinea (PNG) during the final days. This story is dedicated to the memory of those servicemen who fought and died in the final conflict against the Japanese, to the Papuans who also meaningfully helped in the liberation of their country, and finally that my visit to the land might be instrumental in restoring the once fine monument at Cape Wom to its former state.
