Title: Iron Ores in Western Australia [Geological Survey Mineral Resources of Western Australia Bulletin, No. 7].
Description: Perth Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA), 1959. Paperback small octavo, very good condition, thick card covers (black cloth spine), tables, glossy paper, figures, foldout map at front, minor edgewear. 103 pp. The first comprehensive report on the iron ore deposits of the whole of Western Australia, each of which is briefly described (all reserved by the Crown at that time, and could not be pegged). The focus is on the best-known deposits at that date (1959): Koolan Island and Cockatoo Island (West Kimberley Goldfield), and Koolyanobbing (Yilgarn Goldfield, near Southern Cross). The huge limonite-hematitie-magnetite deposits of the Pilbara south of Port Hedland (Hamersley) are mentioned in the preliminary note but not in the main text, as they had not yet been explored in any detail, presumably.
