Title: Sydney Savages 1934 - 1955: A History of the Foundation and First Twenty-One Years of the Sydney Savage Club.
Description: Sydney Sydney Savage Club, 1955. Hardback quarto, dustjacket, red cloth cover, very good condition (in very good dustjacket), glossy paper, black & white portraits & cartoons, small edge tears jacket (reverse side little foxed), minor edgewear, protected by removable semiarchival plastic sleeve. 206 pp. The noted Sydney architect describes the Sydney Savage Club, named after the famous Savage Club in London. The Club was composed of men interested in the creative arts, literature, music, architecture, drama, the sciences, original research and discovery. Club gatherings were called Corroborees, and its magazine "Koora-na-boon”. The Aboriginal motifs and cartoons are today considered to be politically incorrect. Members met in a Bohemian atmosphere of good-fellowship and comradeship, in which politics, race and creed played no part. (No 342 of a limited edition of 500 copies.)
