Lowell's attractive book label with his ink signature and address is mounted on the half-title and his underlinings and brief notations are penciled throughout the text.
Robert Joseph Casey [1890-1962] was a decorated combat veteran and distinguished Chicago-based newspaper correspondent and columnist. After serving in World War I, he joined the Chicago Daily News and worked there as a foreign correspondent and columnist for twenty-seven years. He covered World War II in England, France, Africa and the Pacific. After retiring from the Daily News in 1947, he continued to write books and freelance newspaper articles.
In this book he writes a history of the Chicago of his grandfather's time and of his own youth. Good .
