A sheet of light yellow stock, 10 inches high by 22-1/2 inches wide, has been folded twice to form front & rear cover sheets plus 4 pages. 4 illustrations in brown & white. The program has been folded twice. There are paper-clip stains to the front cover sheet & 1st page & light paper- clip marks to the other pages. There is some light creasing to the front cover sheet & some offsetting to the top edge of the rear cover. Good.

The program cover announces that impresario "Mr. E. J. Gravestock has the honour to present for the first time in Australia..Shura Cherkassky, The World's Greatest Boy Pianist who has created such a furore in the world of music by his extraordinary talents and phenomenal pianistic ability. Although only sixteen years of age he has a technique that leaves his audiences breathless from wonderment, and truly amazed before the manifestations of a power greater than they can comprehend". The program includes the works to be performed at the recitals on August 4th, 6th and 8th, a biographical essay and quotations from reviews of Cherkassky's recent Sydney recital and of his 1927 recital at Carnegie Hall. The cover illustration depicts the sixteen-year-old Cherkassky at the piano. The other illustrations show him as a child prodigy at the ages of eleven and thirteen, and with his teacher Josef Hofmann.

Alexander Isaakovich Cherkassky [1909-1995] was born in Odessa, Russia. His family left for America to escape the Russian Revolution. Cherkassky first studied with his mother, a pianist and piano teacher. In the United States, he studied at the Curtis Institute for Music with Josef Hofmann, who continued to guide and advise him until 1935. He became known for his performances of the romantic repertoire and toured widely to Australia, New Zealand, the Far East, Russia and Europe. Good .
