The binding is soiled and stained & the wraps are bumped with creasing to the bottom corner of the rear wrap. There are small pieces out of the head & tail of the spine. Pages [249-328 & 3 pages plus ads. Black-and-white illustrations & pictorial ads. The page corners are creased & there is occasional foxing & soiling. Good.

Together with a supplement bound in at the front: PHRENOLOGICAL JOURNAL SUPPLEMENT; Institute Extra. Devoted to the interests of the American Institute of Phrenology. No. 1. October. 1876. 10 & [1] pages plus 5-page publisher's catalog, unopened. 1 black- and-white illustration. There is a small stain to the top corner of the first page & there are creases to the bottom corners of the first 3 leaves. Good.

The American supplement is rare.

Among the illustrated articles in this issue of the journal, in addition to profiles of D. Mariano Cubi y Soler, "the eminent Spanish Phrenologist and Educator", and "colored divine and editor" the Rev. Benjamin F. Tanner, are "The Chin and What It Signifies", "Nations in the Fair" [the Philadelphia Centennial Fair], and "How to Teach; Phrenology in the School-Room and the Family". Good .
