Good. - Octavo, softcover bound in printed cream wraps with pictorial ads on the rear wraps of the 1898 issues & with 2 vignettes on the front wrap of the August 1898 issue. The wraps are soiled, chipped & somewhat darkened with some small stains. There is a tear & crease to the top edge of the 1897 issue's rear wrap. Pages [97]-130 plus ads; pages [228]-265 plus ads; pages [267]-308 plus ads. The 1898 issues are illustrated with black-and- white decorations & vignettes. There is occasional soiling & the top page corners are slightly creased. There are small areas of staining to the top of the fore-edge & to the top corners of the pages in the 1897 issue. Good.

An ink mark in the margin draws attention to a self- congratulatory item in the August 1898 issue [p. 303] commenting on the demise of Herbert Stone's "The Chap Book": "The inevitable has happened, and the Chap Book, after a checkered existence of some four years, has joined the great mass of other incompetents in the journalistic grave- yard.." In this issue the subtitle on the front wrap is changed to "A Journal of Information for Writers".

A rare 1890s periodical. Good .
