Minor soiling to first and last few pages of each volume. Otherwise contents clean and tight. Ill.: black-&-white illustrations. A journal established in 1861 'to make better provision for the encouragement of agriculture, and to provide for the promotion of mechanical science'. It also contains a fund of knowledge about trade and industrial production in Upper Canada in the years just before Confederation. Each monthly issue contains editorial notices, news of new industrial designs, techniques or patents, and lengthy articles on new developments in industry or agriculture (e.g. 'On Ozone in Relation to Disease and Health'; 'The Propagation of Trout'; 'The Spectroscope and its Revelations'); as well as reports from the Board of Arts & Manufactures. Each volume contains a comprehensive Index at the front. Volumes I to III were edited by Henry Youle Hind. Beginning in 1864, this journal was edited by the Secretary of the Board.
